Week #1 & 2

It has been a great start to the school year, I can't tell you how excited I am to be teaching your children physical education again this year (and a big welcome to the new members of the Varsity family).

The first two weeks have been spent learning routines and safety as well as getting to know each other.

Here are some of the games we've played (organized by grade):
K-1: Tag, moving around, skipping, jumping, mes préférences
2-3: tag, pieuvres, 4 corners, memory, mes préférences
4-5: Chemin cachée, voleurs de trésor, mes préférences

Here are a few questions you can ask your child to spur conversation about learning in phys ed:
K-1: What do you need to do to be safe in the gym? What's the most dangerous thing in the gym?
2-3: What do you need to do if you hear two whistles? What is M. Trevor's favorite sport?
4-5: What is a strategy your team used to work together in chemin cachée? What sport or game do you hope to do in phys ed this year?

Look in the comments for the answers.

Next week and until September 27 we will be focused on running. This is in preparation for the Terry Fox run on Friday September 27 at 8:45 AM. Please send your child with good outdoor running shoes (please avoid boots if possible).

Running Club - all students are welcome to join. The club is being run on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch until the 25 of September. No sign up required, just come on out if you want to increase your running skills. Hope to see your child there!
